Gomaga was born in México City and as far back as she remembers she has always wanted to be an artist. “I remember asking for stamps, paper, colors, crayons, different kind of scissors and even a binding machine for birthday presents”. She once told her father on her way to school “When I grow up, I want to paint walls dad” after the response of “Really?” from her father, she explained, “but I want to do it with a small brush!”

 

Life went on and with it an appetite for knowledge. Gomaga was drawn to studying law at first, then an interest in psychiatry was born, followed by graphic design, marketing, and her many interests led her to study advertising.

She started her career in the advertising world working for some of the biggest advertising agencies and after many years working for some of their biggest brands as Associate Creative Director she decided to stop renting them her talent and let her creativity run free without a creative brief. Around 2003 she left advertising to explore various artistic expressions and techniques like printmaking, sculpture, mix media, oil and acrylic among others.

For many years Gomaga was looking for a unique style that would make her complete and happy to express herself as the artist she is. Until finally she found it using new forms and bold colors that represent perfectly well her vision.

In these times where everybody is running so fast and everybody “has seen everything” she has found a way to make people stop to enjoy a moment of happiness and amazement through her art.
