Zofia Kijak is a painter, architect and photographer, a member of the Association of Polish Fine Artists, with academic degrees, inter alia, from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology and from the Faculty of Painting at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and many exhibitions in Poland and the United States. Her paintings have resulted from many years of en plein air work in Australia, South Pacific and Mediterranean. There are landscapes, seascapes, garden themes, abstracts, portraits and still lifes. She has introduced three distinctive own styles: 'joie de vivre', 'substance' and 'floral abstract' which dominate in her recent artwork.

Zofia Kijak’s fascination with color characterises all her works. The artist uses vivid hues and her works are filled with light and radiate with happiness. Inspiration has been sought from natural beauty and originates from en plein air work, particularly in the South Pacific and Mediterranean full of sunshine, colourful houses and fairy-tale lush vegetation. Her painting style could be broadly classified as post-impressionism though her art is more unique or crosses boundaries between various styles (David Hockney or Jean-Claude Picot styles are worthwhile mentioning here), but definitely easily identifiable by its vibrant colors, bold brush strokes and feeling of sheer joy.
