Alcohol and disinfectants

This image is taken from Impatto del Coronavirus sul mercato italiano, a project of self-portraits that wants to investigate through photography, fashion and performance the effects of Coronavirus on the market demand in Italy during the first quarantine in 2020, with a particular focus on sustainability.

Through a careful market research on the basis of reliable data, I identified the items most purchased by people and I used them in the realization of twelve eccentric and unconventional dresses. With these then I portrayed myself.

The dresses were sewn by me using only recycled materials: items found in my house or donated to me and others I recovered from commercial activities. Along with the accessories, these are the result of a huge research of styling; they were designed to be unique, colorful and surprising.
Even the poses, very theatrical, were studied in order to strengthen the meaning of the object represented.

Impatto del Coronavirus sul mercato italiano is therefore a multidisciplinary project in which coexist several forms of artistic expression, but at the same time it highlights very important issues from an historical and political point of view, such as sociological and psychological behavioral documentation and a research for a more eco-sustainable fashion.

In conclusion it can be considered an "unexpected" visual story with a strong ironic component of what was purchased most by the Italians during the first quarantine.
