Embodied Memory

Dariusz Mierzwa - Poland

This work explores the human body as a bearer of memory, identity and transformation.
The figure, suspended between ascent and surrender, becomes a space where signs, symbols and traces of experience are inscribed.

The wings do not represent a literal transcendence, but rather an inner state – a tension between weight and elevation, between the physical and the immaterial.

The surface of the body functions as a living archive, carrying marks that suggest cultural, spiritual and existential layers. These signs do not provide clear answers, but invite reflection on the complexity of human identity.

The painting moves beyond a singular narrative and instead presents a condition – a moment in which the human being becomes both subject and witness of their own transformation.
