Chronokopia is a performance work situated in a multimedia installation. It documents my movement
through an artificial forest constructed inside a meeting room, surrounded by clocks,
timers, burning cigarettes, candles, and other timekeeping devices. The performance
was recorded from three perspectives as I walked across a large canvas with
paint-covered feet. During the performance, paint traces my movement on the canvas.
Through this work, I explore the tension between the personal experiences of time and
the standardized “industrial time” imposed by modern society. I placed an artificial forest
inside a highly structured workplace environment to juxtapose subjective freedom with
external systems of control. The footprints on the canvas leave physical marks of my
personal and free experience of time, while repeated interruptions from alarms indicate
how social structures continuously reshape personal rhythms.
