The watching

The Watching explores the psychological weight of being constantly observed — by society, by expectation, and by the darker parts of the self. Emerging from layers of thick white texture, the eyes appear trapped between mask and identity, beauty and distortion, performer and observer. The feathered black shapes surrounding the eyes reference the visual language of the black swan: transformation, performance, and emotional fragmentation. The red background evokes both theatrical space and inner tension, turning the painting into a suspended moment between seduction and unease. Rather than presenting a portrait, the work functions as a psychological presence — an entity that watches silently while reflecting the pressure of becoming someone else in order to be seen.
