    BIO

Ana González Urdaneta is a Mexico City based artist, with a focus on painting, drawing and print media. Her interest is to render visual narratives that articulate personal mythology, folklore and the driving forces of modern society. The integral themes in her practice are interconnectivity, storytelling and the appreciation of nature. The majority of her work blurs the line between fantasy and reality, her aim is to celebrate the delicate balance and harmony that secretly rules over all matters of life, and that ignores all our petty collective pursuits. For Ana, art is the means to explore how we engage with our surroundings and the medium to cultivate reciprocity, reverence and kindness.

Ana received her MFA from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and BFA from York University in Toronto, Ontario, in 2017 and 2013 respectively. She also has had the opportunity to complete a research residency at Kyoto Seika University in Japan, and her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
